Overview

Motorola's G series was a big success for the company and the company won many hearts as well. The G series was an affordable yet a well-thought lineup. But in the long run, the company didn't manage to do well and emerging brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, and others took its place. Motorola released the One Action a few months back and hopes to regain its position.

On the design front, the phone comes with a glossy plastic chassis but looks good and is very solid. In order to provide contrast, the edges and corners are kept dotted. The phone is available in three colors namely Denim Blue, Pearl White, and Aqua Teal.

It includes a 6.3 inch Full HD + IPS display having an aspect ratio of 21:9 and 432 PPI of pixel density. The phone has an oleophobic coating that shields it against accidental splashes or minor interactions with water although it doesn't have any official IP rating.

It includes an octa-core Exynos 9609 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The phone performs everyday tasks without any difficulty while multitasking was also no brainer. Modern games like PUBG and asphalt also run smoothly.

The Motorola One Action is the first Motorola phone to have a triple camera setup. The primary is a 12-megapixel f/1.8 camera followed by a 16-megapixel ultrawide camera with f/2.2, and lastly a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The camera takes nice shots in daylight conditions but isn't so effective in low lit situations. A 12-megapixel selfie camera also takes praiseworthy shots. The main camera is capable of recording 4K videos @ 30 fps too.

The 3500 mAh battery is almost satisfactory and can last for a day if used mildly but if you are a heavy user you might want to carry a charger with you. The phone runs on Android 9.0 based on the Android One program.

Additional Features

The phone comes with a few custom gestures from Motorola called Moto Actions such as a double chop which turns on the flashlight and a double wrist twist to open the camera. It also has a custom button navigation gesture interface called the One Button Nav.

Verdict

The One Action is a great smartphone in terms of both design and raw performance. The camera is also decent although it could have been a little better. The battery could be a downside but other than that the phone doesn't have any major flaws. If you like stock Android experience and looking for feature-packed phone the Motorola One Action can be considered.

In the camera section, the X4 owns a 12-megapixel primary shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The camera performance is quite average and is not very impressive although the quick focus is fast. In low light conditions, there is a lot of noise in the images captured. The 16-megapixel front camera has an LED flash which helps to take decent selfies in low light situations.

It comes with a 3000 mAh battery that can last for around 12 hours in one go which is not that good but Motorola's TurboPower Quick Charging feature is a blessing at provides fast charge times. It runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box and can be further updated to Android 9.0. The phone has the Android One support and will get 3 years of the latest update.

The phone is being made accessible in two variants- the base model with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage, while the top-end model has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage.

In terms of cameras, the Note 7s holds a primary 48 megapixel Samsung GM1 camera with f/1.8 and a 5-megapixel secondary camera for depth sensing. The camera is AI-enabled which is competent in recognizing plants, buildings, and other things. The images on occasions miss out on details and color quality is bad. But distant shots were healthy. The low light shots were just approximately fine. On the front, a 13-megapixel selfie camera takes decent selfies and also comes with AI beautification.

It gets its power from a 4000 mAh battery which has an average battery backup although it supports fast charging ( Quick Charge 4). It runs on MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 (Pie).
